Malayalam director I V Sasi dead, he was 69 : IV Sasi, National Award-winning Malayalam filmmaker, passes away aged 67. Malayalam filmmaker I V Sasi, who has more than 150 movies to his credit, died on Tuesday morning. He was 69. According to early reports, he was being taken to hospital when he passed away. Sasi was undergoing treatment in Chennai.

I V Sasi dead : In a career spanning close to four decades, he directed more than 150 films. He won the the Nargis Dutt Award for the best feature film on National Integration, for his 1983 film Aaroodam.
കൊച്ചി: പ്രശസ്ത സംവിധായകൻ ഐ.വി.ശശി (67) അന്തരിച്ചു. ചെന്നൈയിലെ സാലിഗ്രാമത്തിലുള്ള വസതിയിൽ നിന്ന് ആശുപത്രിയിലേക്ക് കൊണ്ടുപോകവേയാണ് അന്ത്യം. അസുഖത്തെത്തുടർന്ന് ചികിത്സയിലായിരുന്നു അദ്ദേഹം. ഭാര്യയും നടിയുമായ സീമയാണ് മരണവിവരം മാധ്യമങ്ങളെ അറിയിച്ചത്.
He is also credited with discovering Malayalam superstar Mohanlal as the filmmaker directed Ineyengillum, one of the first breaks of Mohanlal in the capacity of a co-hero. IV Sasi’s collaboration with another Malayalam superstar Mammootty is also a celebrated one as Sasi introduced him as a hero in Thrishna.
It was to become an art director that he boarded a train to Chennai in 1968. Seven years later, he made his debut as a director with Ulsavam. In a career that spanned over four decades, he directed blockbuster movies like Ee Nadu, Itha IvideVare, Angadi, Vartha, Devasuram, Avanazhi and Avalude Ravukal.
Sasi has also directed films in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi though his most popular contribution to Indian cinema has been in the Malayalam film industry. His most renowned Hindi film is Anokha Rishta, starring Rajesh Khanna and Smita Patil.
